Dr. Liew Jun Mun (Mun) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong and a medical professional with over a decade of experience in pathology, medical research, and teaching. With a Ph.D. in Pathology from the University of Cambridge, he is currently working to unravel the intricate roles of pro-inflammatory conditions in age-related diseases caused by gene mutations and to model these conditions in animal models. Prior to his current role, he served as a Visiting Scientist at the Molecular Biotechnology Centre, University of Turin. During that time, he coordinated projects related to blood cancers and co-led in vivo studies on novel treatments for a refractory childhood T-cell lymphoma.
Mun also earned an M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine with Distinction from Imperial College London, funded by the Chevening Scholarship and an Imperial College London Scholarship. His master's research involved investigating the genomics of another subtype of lymphoma seen in adults. Additionally, Mun holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Melaka Manipal Medical College Malaysia and was a medical registrar in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology at the University of Malaya Medical Centre Malaysia.
